My name is Kimberly Eddins. I am the owner, founder, and lead instructor at the Georgia Barber Institute located in Conyers, Ga.. We are currently the only barber school in Conyers. I have been in the industry for over 30 years and I have been an educator for some of the top schools in Georgia for over 20 years. I decided to not only open a school but to incorporate a non-profit arm focused on licensure. The reason being I want to pass the torch and make sure our profession maintains its historic relevance, its prestige and also makes room for - YOU. I know that one of our biggest obstacles is that, for various reasons, creative thinkers run into problems just trying to make positive moves in life. So I want to provide a way for you to obtain licenses in Barbering -one of the oldest most creative professions in the world. No matter your circumstance or where you come from, be it recovery, re-entry, a troubled youth, an unlicensed barber -we are going to meet you where you are...
My Story
I am a native of Atlanta. And I have been in education for over 20 years. My passion is teaching in the creative space. I have traveled for much of my career to barbershops all over the southeast and what I came to know was that several shops have unlicensed barbers that can not break away from what is now their career and their means to make money but instead have to continue to work without a license so their families income won't suffer - I get it. I have also while teaching at other barber schools come in contact with individuals that at some point in their life experienced a set back be it drugs /alcohol or criminal involvement that sent them to prison. Some being placed in court mandated youth program, but all somewhere along the way fell in love with barbering and want to make it their new start - I hear you. My non profit speaks to all of that, and the best part is I can offer you a path an actual barber license through our wherever you are program, with the WYA Class Pass.
